Greenrail S.r.l. is an innovative PMI founded in 2011, which has patented in 70 countries worldwide an innovative and sustainable railway sleeper composed of an inner core in concrete and an outer shell made of recycled plastic and End of Life Tyres (ELTs).
Greenrail has been co-financed by H2020 fundings by SME Instrument Phase 1 and 2 for a total budget amount of 3mln€. The main ecological benefit of Greenrail is related to its composition that allows to recover up to 35 tons of recycled plastic and ELTs for each kilometer of line.
Greenrail can also integrate solar panels for energy harvesting transforming the railway line in a photovoltaic field and it is possible to integrate smart sensors for the communication of diagnostic data.
