IR2data sourcesare simply images where rain is visible. They can come from different devices, to satisfythe needs of different kinds of customers and measure precipitation under different circumstances:

Surveillance camerasare theideal device to performcontinuous monitoring andproduce precipitation timeseries referred to the sites wherecameras are installed.

Smartphonesare the ideal devicesto track heavy precipitation eventsanywhere and anytime, and maysupport users with weather-relatedalerts and notifications.

Perspectively,cars and othervehicleswith onboard camerasmay be turned into ubiquitousprecipitation tracers, gatheringdata where other instruments aremissing.

DATA MANAGEMENT:

Devices shoot the picturesand process them locallyto identify raindropsavoiding privacy issues.

Only the information related tothe raindrops identified in theimages is passed to IR2 in thecloud, to complete themeasurements.

We store raw precipitationbig data and supply serviceslike local time series orinterpolated maps in rasterformat.
